Deck Makeover: Treetop Den

A rickety, unstable deck is transformed into a comfortable, safe spot to hang out.

Before: The main features on this rickety deck are splinters, protruding nails, and uneven boards.

After: The new composite deck is sturdy and stable. A foot-wide extension adds square footage; laying the new composite flooring on the diagonal serves to "expand" the space. Complete with a new retractable awning, the deck is now ready for some serious relaxing, rain or shine.

Before: Creaky, wobbly stairs makes for an uncertain passage, and the rails are full of splinters.

After: The old stairs were ripped out, and in their place, a new wobble-free staircase; closed risers help contribute to the feeling of stability, and their embedded lights will make the stairs safer.
