        Gather Your Materials and Tools

        Materials and Tools:

        measuring tape
        pencil
        chalk line
        power drill
        2x2 lumber
        4x8 MDF
        circular saw
        wood screws
        countertop
        pre-made pedestal with drawers
        pre-made cubbyholes and cabinets
        laser level
        stud finder
        wood screws
        molding
        hammer
        finishing nails
        retractable clothesline

        Build the Frame

Use pre-made cabinets and cubbyholes to turn small space into mini laundry room.

Washer and dryer should be located next to water and electrical supply and against outside wall for proper venting.

Start by measuring washer/dryer for frame. To make loading and unloading easier, set washer and dryer on pedestals with storage drawers.

Build frame out of 2x2s with MDF on top.

        Hang Cabinets and Cubbyholes

Before putting frame in place, hang cabinets and cubbyholes on wall.

Tip: Cabinets and cubbyholes together should equal width of washer/dryer frame.

Frame space with cabinets on both sides and attach to wall studs with wood screws. Use laser level to run chalk line to keep cabinets level and even with each other.

Fill center space with cubbyholes. For architectural effect, set cubbyholes slightly deeper than cabinets.

Add Molding and Finish the Installation

        Trim tops with molding.

        Set frame in place.

Set washer and dryer on pedestals and slide into place.

        Install retractable clothesline.
