Tape around the back panel of the bookcase to protect it from stain.
Apply the red stain with a 2" paintbrush, then let stand for 10 minutes.
Wipe off the excess stain with a soft cloth.
Apply the artwork to the inside back of the bookcase using wallpaper paste. Use a wallpaper blade to smooth out any bubbles.
Create a sepia tone mixture by mixing two parts water, one part varnish with several drops of raw sienna tint and burnt umber tint.
Apply sepia tone with a brush, then smooth over with a cloth.
Finally, seal it with a varnish.
