Finish and Knot Filament String

Continue threading the buttons, getting smaller and smaller as you go until you have reached the top of your tree. Tie a knot in the top of your thread to keep the buttons from falling off.

Step 5

Make it Charm-ing

Add a charm to make a tree topper and also add a silver hoop or jump ring so you can hang the ornament. Tie both pieces onto the top of the tree.

Cut Excess Strings

To cut the thread, loop the top ends of the string back through the tree from the top buttons. Once the thread ends are coming out of the middle of the tree, tie them once again and cut. This way no loose string ends are showing anywhere.
