Step 1

Sanitize Jars

Whether new or reused, be sure to thoroughly clean the glass jars by boiling them in water for 10 minutes. Wash the lids by hand in soapy water to disinfect. When clean, remove the glass jars, allow them to cool and then place them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to fill them.

Step 2

Measure Ingredients

This simple recipe calls for 1 pound of softened, unsalted butter (4 sticks). Unwrap each of the butter sticks and place them in the mixing bowl. Top it with 1/4 cup of honey, 1/4 of real maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Step 3

Mix Ingredients

Mixing by hand would be easy with a spatula, but a stand mixer is nice for creating a smooth, even consistency. Allow the ingredients to blend for 1-2 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary.

Step 4

Create Labels

If you’re gifting the butter, customize the lid of the jar and a label using craft paper. Use the lid of the jar as a template for cutting the circle to size. Create a tag for the product too; we used sticker letters for a clean look.

Step 5

Fill the Jars

Transfer the smooth butter into the chilled jars using a spatula. Hand-tighten the lid and attach the decorative label with a piece of string. Seal any leftover butter in an air-tight container in the fridge. And don’t forget to sample on a piece of toast!
