Giant Table Numbers

You can decorate these adorable table numbers any way you want, adding your special handmade flair to your big day.

Step 1

Trace Number

Draw an outlined number directly onto the inside of the cardboard cereal box. Use a ruler and a protractor to get nice straight and curved lines.

Step 2

Cut Number

Fold box in half and cut out two mirror images of the number.

Step 3

Seeing Double

You should now have this.

Step 4

Cut Side Pieces

With the remainder of the cereal box, cut out a bunch of 1-inch-wide strips of cardboard.

Step 5

Adjust Length

Match up the 1-inch strips along the side edges of the number; cut them down to size.

Step 6

Tape Sides

Fold the 1-inch strip over so that it is at a 90-degree angle from the number. Tape the sides strips to the front of the number.

Step 7

Examine Your Work

You should now have something that looks like this: one number with all of the sides and one mirror flat number.

Step 8

Fill With Rice

Fill the number with the sides about halfway up with rice. This will add a weight to the number so won't be easily knocked over.

Step 9

Tape Flat Number

Place the flat number directly on top of the rice-filled number and tape down around the entire edge to secure.

Step 10

Time to Decorate

To cover the number with fabric, fold the fabric in half and lay the number directly on top of the fabric. Trace around the number with a pen, giving it a nice 1-inch border around all sides.

Step 11

Cut Out Number

Cut the traced number from the fabric. You should have two mirror images of the number in fabric.

Step 12

Attach Fabric

Use a paintbrush to aplly Mod Podge to the back side of the cardboard number. Press the cardboard number flat directly onto the wrong side of the fabric number, in the very center.

Step 13

Cut Notches

Cut notches into the 1-inch border of the fabric around all curved edges of the number. This will help with easing the fabric around the curves.

Step 14

Glue Fabric

Use a paintbrush to apply Mod Podge to the sides of the cardboard number. Fold the fabric up on the sides allowing it to stick to the Mod Podge.

Step 15

Go All the Way Around

Continue all the way around the entire number.

Step 16

Fabric Strips

Repeat these steps for the other side of the number. Cut 2-inch wide strips from the remainder of the fabric. Apply Mod Podge to one end of the strip to the number and wrap the fabric around the number. When you get to the end of the fabric strip, apply Mod Podge to the end to glue it down. Repeat this until your number has the finished look your desire.

Step 17

And You Are Done!

A beautiful fabric-covered number that makes the perfect wedding table centerpiece. Add flowers, rhinestone appliques, drape pearls over it — anything to add instant glam to your number.
