  • vanilla
  • sprigs of rosemary
  • sprigs of pine trees
  • cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon
  • peppercorns
  • cloves

Add Water + Ingredients to a Saucepan

Start with two cups of water and only add more if it threatens to completely evaporate. Start with more water and ingredients if you would like to reserve the solution for later. Add your selected ingredients to the water.

Boil + Simmer

Heat to a boil without a lid, then reduce heat to low. The solution will become nicely concentrated as it simmers. Continue to heat for 30 minutes. Keep an eye on how much liquid is in the pan, as you may need to add more as it evaporates.

Save for Later

If you’re feeling satisfied with the scent, but the liquid hasn't evaporated, allow it to cool and strain out the solids. Transfer it to a canning jar. Reserve in the fridge, and reheat when the occasion arises – we recommend infusing an hour before company arrives.
