How to Accessorize a Laundry Room
Before a laundry room can be "pressed" into service, it needs some items that serve as decorative focal points and functional accessories.
Add a retro stool, which can be used either as seating when ironing or as a step-stool for reaching items on high shelves.
White wood shelves hung over the washer and dryer are good for displaying functional items. Consider using crockery or ceramic containers to store necessary laundry-room materials such as detergent and bleach. Items such as these have to be able to withstand heat and moisture, and the crockery or ceramic containers will add color as well as utility to the space.
Add an aesthetic touch with new cabinet hardware and old-fashioned calendar pictures framed in identical black frames.
The final touch is a tweed rug, which provides additional color to the room. Use nonskid padding underneath the rug, especially in view of the heat and moisture found in typical laundry rooms.
