Furniture and Accessories in a Nursery
One of the most useful accessories in any nursery is a rocking chair, and a little paint and some green-and-white fabric can improve the look of an old brown chair. Beside the rocking chair, a handy white-wicker three-tier stand can hold bottles, diapers or anything the new baby may need.
The changing table, another nursery must-have, can be fashioned out of a thrift-shop chest of drawers that has been painted white. Green plastic knobs with the look of old glass are added for a touch of color, and the bumper pad on top is covered in the green-and-white gingham with toile welting.
The crib is a work of art: a white sleigh bed with removable rails (for the not-too-distant future, when the baby will be old enough for a junior bed). Two different sizes of gingham form cover the bumpers and the bedskirt; the smaller check has more of the toile welting.
In one corner of the room is an overstuffed, slipcovered club chair --perfect seating for one parent while the other is rocking the baby. The chair includes a fluffy, toile-covered pillow for added comfort.
