New Baby, New Nursery

A nursery is one of the most fun rooms to decorate because the only limit in creativity is your own imagination. Babies are a blast and so are nurseries with a cosmic touch.

Before: Blank Slate Beige

Before, this room was pretty much a soft, beige box. The homeowners placed the crib over a large stain in the carpet that was leftover from the previous owner. Also, there was clutter running along the floor with no organization to help sort it all out.

Earn Your Stripes

When painter's tape was applied, the original paint color of the room became the slim pinstripes in the new color scheme.

Three's Company

Three bands of color make for a serene and soothing space for baby. By incorporating the original color, and adding shades of light green and a bright white,€“ a calming color palette is created that can grow with baby over time.

Tip: Bright-white paint on the ceiling and on the top third of the wall makes this room seem taller than it is.

The Old Stomping Ground

When moving into a new home, it’s a good idea to replace old, stained carpet whenever possible, but especially if it’s in a nursery. Babies love to play on the floor and having a new, clean carpet with a good underlayment for stain protection can put a parent’s mind at ease for that tummy time.

Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk (no, really)

This new, chic carpet has a waterproof backing to protect against spills and messes. It’s not only soft underfoot, but durable enough to handle wear and tear for years to come and resist even the worst stains.

Baby Stuff

With babies comes a lot of stuff! Install shelving so anything you need to rock, entertain or change baby is close at hand.

The Cutest Space Cadet

For an adorable cosmic effect, frame a poster of a furry astronaut to spark baby’s imagination.

Not Your Grandma's Rocking Chair

Gliders are comfortable and immensely useful for getting baby to sleep. They can be pretty large, though. If that's the case, mix textiles to break up a practical, solid-colored glider. Keep a blanket close at hand for warding off a chill during late-night feedings.

Two For One

In a child’s room, it’s helpful to have furniture that can do double duty and grow with them. This simple white dresser holds a removable changing table top so once baby is out of diapers, it’s back to being a handy dresser.

Top It All Off

Use open plastic storage boxes to keep lotions, creams, binkies, socks and tees in order and close to the changing table. With one hand on baby at all times – it’s vital that everything is within easy reach of parents.

Diaper Duty

Storage boxes on the wall perfectly house diapers so refills are kept at a minimum. When baby is older, they can be used for holding books or toys.

Out of This World

In keeping with the space theme, a few galactic accents were added; a cool string-art rocketship and a gorgeous blank globe.

Love, Mom

A small, vintage chalkboard offers a sweet spot parents can leave love notes for their little ones.

Basketful of Blankies

A woven basket provides the perfect place for extra blankies and a floor pillow for snuggling. This is also a great spot for an ever-important hamper.

What€'s Your Sign?

Bring a familial touch to your baby’s nursery with artwork showing the astrological signs of the family. It can be dangerous to hang anything heavy over a crib so this tiny clothesline is a lightweight option, just be sure to hang it high enough so baby can't reach.

On Cloud 9

A DIY sparkly cloud mobile brings a special effect to the nursery. It will light up the room and the soft, felt clouds drift gently above, as your baby falls asleep. Get the step-by-step instructions >>

Baby Panache

Parents spend a lot of time in the nursery with the baby, so why not make it a place that’s comfortable, stylish and structured for everyone?
