Step 2

Avoid an Empty Looking House

Before you go on vacation, make your home look like you’re still there.

Ask neighbor to park in your driveway and collect mail, newspapers, and flyers or have delivery stopped.

Screw motion-activating sensor between socket and bulb of floodlight.

Leave blinds and curtains slightly open so light shines outside; then turn inside lights on and off via a smart phone app.

Monitor home and property via a webcam smart phone app.

Step 3

Prepping Your House

Unplug small appliances and electronics.

Shut down water heater.

Turn off water valves to sinks, toilets, dishwasher, and washing machine.

Leave closet doors open to prevent air from getting musty.

Place opened box of baking soda inside fridge to absorb odors.

Pack car inside garage.

Do NOT post vacation dates and plans on social media.
