How to Paint a Cafe' Table - La Cucina Traditionale

Part of the classic Italian kitchen makeover, the cafe table gets a limestone-look of pale salmon and cream tones using sea sponges and blending brushes.

Highlights:

Step 1: Sand and Paint the Table

Sand table if necessary and wipe clean.

Paint pedestal and stem in 2140-40 Storm Cloud Gray.

While the pedestal is drying, paint table top with primer for 221 Golden Garden . Let dry.

Step 2: Paint the Pedestal and Table Top

Paint the pedestal with Modern Masters Metal Effects Bronze paint. Let dry.

Using sea sponge roller, paint 2162-40 Peanut Shell to tabletop. Let dry.

Step 3: Brush on an Aging Paint and Glaze

Brush pedestal Modern Masters Metal Effects Black Patina in details for an aging effect.

Mix 1 part 500 Maidenhair Fern with 3 parts glaze brush on, stipple and blend. Let dry.


Step 4: Brush on Tinted Varnish

Add a small amount of dark brown paint to the Dead Flat varnish to create a tinted varnish. Brush, stipple and blend using the same technique as the glaze.
