        • Time

          1 hour

        • Price Range

          $1 - $50

        • Difficulty

          Easy

        Highlights:

Step 1: Stuff the Hole and Apply Patching Compound

Stuff crumpled newspaper behind the hole and use a putty knife to patch it with a fast-drying patching compound. The patch should be just below the surface of the wall. The compound will dry to a hard surface in about 30 minutes.

        Step 2: Apply Joint Compound

Use a joint knife to apply joint compound over the patch. Allow the joint compound to dry, and then sand it smooth. Apply additional joint compound as necessary.

Step 3: Sand the Area and Apply Paint

Sand, prime and paint the patched area.
