    Easy to Moderate

Step 1: Sand Off Old Paint

Start by lightly sanding off any old paint on the door.

Step 2: Apply the Base Coat

Then apply a base coat of paint. Let dry.

Step 3: Apply the Crackle Medium

Apply the crackle medium over the basecoat. Apply in multiple directions to achieve random cracking.

Step 4: Apply the Top Coat and Crackle Medium

Next apply the top coat of paint. Apply in generously in one stroke, because going back over the top coat reduces the crackle effect.

The medium will cause the top coat of paint to shrink, allowing the bottom coat to be seen.
