How to Operate a Power Tamper

Step 1: Start the Power Tamper
Turn the fuel switch on and give it some choke. Turn the main switch on and make sure the throttle is set to low, then start it up.
Step 2: Give the Tamper Throttle
Once the rammer is running, slowly give it throttle until it starts jumping.
Step 3: Walk the Machine
To move it along, slowly walk the machine ahead of you. It will creep along on its own.
Caution: Wear hearing protection. Watch your toes and take frequent breaks since it gives the arms a good shaking. Only use one person to operate it. Two people are dangerous because of the way it jumps forward.
