How to Make a Straight Ball-Drilling Jig

Step 1: Make and Drill a Block
Screw together two 3/4" pieces of material to make a block.
Use a hole saw on the drill press to cut a hole through the center of the block (Image 1).
Use a drill to make holes for the rods (Image 2).
Step 2: Split the Block, and Add Dowels
On the table saw, split the block in half.
Glue the dowels in the holes in one half of the block (Image 1).
Put the block back together (Image 2).
Step 3: Position the Jig and Ball
Place the jig on the drill press table.
Put the ball into the jig. Center the ball over the center hole in the table.
Step 4: Drill the Ball
Clamp the jig to the table, then clamp the jig together.
Drill a hole into the center of the ball.
