Step 1: Cut a Hole in the Pan
Finding a particular nut or bolt amid a can full of small parts can be difficult and frustrating (Image 1). That's where an old baker's pan comes in handy. Use a drill press to cut a hole in the pan (Image 2). Make sure the pan is clamped down securely. Set the speed setting to low to cut into the metal pan.
Step 2: Separate the Pieces
Use the pan to separate the pieces into individual jars to keep similar pieces organized. Be sure to use clear jars so you can see what's inside.
Step 3: Cut the Jar Lids
Use an awl to start a hole in the lid of the jar. Next, screw the lid of the jar to the bottom of the shelf and attach the jar to the lid to complete the project.
