        How to Make a Flower Box

        A flower box is an easy beginner's project to build using a combination miter saw/radial-arm saw.

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Make the First Cut

        Set the miter table (Image 1) at 45 degrees and the bevel at the desired angle.
        Make the first cut, with the wood tight against the fence (Image 2).

        Step 2: Make the Second, Third and Fourth Cuts

        Flip the stock over to its opposite side to make the second cut.

        Flip it to make the third cut and again for the fourth cut. The four pieces should be an exact fit.

        Step 3: Form the Bottom, and Finish the Box

        Cut a rectangular piece of wood to form the bottom of the box.

        Nail the sides together and drill drainage holes in the bottom. Paint or stain the box, as desired.
