        How to Make a Circle-Cutting Jig

        Use these step-by-step instructions to make a jig that will cut circles through wood or any other material.

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Position the Fence

        Insert the non-piloted woodcutting bit into the spiral-cutting tool (Image 1). Remove the fence from the tool (Image 2). Attach the fence to a circle-cutting guide, then reattach the fence and the guide to the spiral-cutting tool (Image 3).

        Step 2: Drill a Hole and Make the Cut

        Use the spiral-cutting tool to drill a pilot hole where you want the center of the circle on the wood (Image 1). Insert the center point of the guide into the pilot hole. Tilt the spiral cutter at a 45-degree angle before plunging into the wood to make the cut (Image 2). Use the guide to pivot the tool 360 degrees to cut a perfect circle (Image 3).
