        How to Lighten up a Dresser with Sunny Maize Paint

        Lighten up a dark dresser with white gesso and sunny maize paint.

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Remove the Hardware

        • Remove hardware and place in a bucket filled with brass cleaner.

        • Sand and wipe down the dresser.

        • Tape off sides of each dresser drawer to ensure clean, straight lines.

        Step 2: Mix the Gesso and HC-5 Weston Flax

      • Mix white gesso with HC-5 Weston Flax and brush on using foam brushes (Images 1 and 2). Let dry.

      • Lightly sand to remove brush marks. Using tack cloth, wipe the dresser clean.

      • Step 3: Paint the Upper Section

      • Paint upper section with foam brushes in HC-5 Weston Flax in pearl finish. Let dry. Recoat if necessary.

      • Step 4: Paint the Lower Section

      • Tape off top half for a perfectly clean line.

      • Paint lower section in same way using 200 Westminster Gold.

      • Step 5: Reattach the Hardware

      • Remove hardware from brass cleaner. Rinse, dry and reattach.
