How to Install Victorian Kitchen Cabinets

Host Paul Ryan installs the custom-built sink cabinets, along with the end piece that will frame the stove.
        • Time

          Under Half Day

        • Price Range

          $250 - $500

        • Difficulty

          Easy to Moderate

        In this Project you will:

        Step 1: Mark the Cabinet

Measure and mark the back of the cabinet where the drain pipes, water pipes, gas line and electrical will need to enter.

        Step 2: Drill a Hole

Using a paddle bit, drill a pilot hole to cut out the access panel in the back of the cabinet with the jigsaw.

Step 3: Slide the Cabinet in Place

Slide the cabinet in place, leaving enough room for the stove and small end of the cabinet on one side and the dishwasher on the other.

        Step 4: Mount the Cabinets

Since the studs are already marked, you will know where to drill pilot holes in the cabinet back for mounting. Use 3" screws to mount the cabinets to the wall. When mounting the stove side cabinet panel, make sure to check the stove manufacturer's specification so you know how much space to leave.

Step 5: Attach the Cabinet Panel

Attach the side cabinet panel using 3" screws, hitting studs if possible.

Note: Check to make sure the cabinets are level and shim if necessary.
