        How to Install New Kitchen Lights

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Remove the Old Fixture

        First, be sure to turn off the power. Unscrew the light bulbs and remove the globes. Remove the escutcheon to get at the wiring, and then cut the black wire first, then the blue and then the rest. Unscrew the cap and then the universal cross bar.

        Step 2: Install the New Fixture

        Thread on the new cross bar that's included with the fixture. Attach the wires with an insulating wire nut. Screw the base tight to the ceiling. Screw in the light bulbs and put on the new globe.

        Step 3: Paint

        Prepare for painting by using masking tape on the corners (Image 1). Repaint the surfaces. The basement door is transformed into a message board with chalkboard paint (Image 2).
