Step 1: Prepare for the Arch Installation
Hold up the arch and mark the drywall that is to be removed. Use a level and a utility knife to score the drywall. Cut through the corner bead with a handsaw and then remove it and the drywall with a hammer and pry bar.
Step 2: Screw the Arch Into the Studs
Hold up the arch and screw it into the studs. Be sure both sides are at the same height. The pieces should butt together, not overlap.
Step 3: Measure the Drywall to Be Cut
Mark the portion to be cut off and the position of the pieces on the wall. Take the pieces down and remove the excess with a tin snips.
Step 4: Reattach the Pieces
Cover the sides of the arches with drywall. To cut the drywall to size, follow along the arch with a rotary cutter.
