Hold up the arch and mark the drywall that is to be removed. Use a level and a utility knife to score the drywall. Cut through the corner bead with a handsaw and then remove it and the drywall with a hammer and pry bar.
Hold up the arch and screw it into the studs. Be sure both sides are at the same height. The pieces should butt together, not overlap.
Mark the portion to be cut off and the position of the pieces on the wall. Take the pieces down and remove the excess with a tin snips.
