Sash replacement issues

I recently started to update my single glaze double hung wood windows. As the casings were in good shape, I elected to install Monarch tilt pac sash replacements to save a few dollars (I have 17 windows. The sash replacements are fairly easy to do, but one thing to look for is the window thickness at the bottom of the lower sash and the top of the upper sash. As the Monarch's are 1/8" thicker than the original windows I found some contact with the lower sash going down all the way and the upper sash going up all the way. I do not know the correct names of the contact areas, but the upper sash would hit on it's interior side on a small strip of wood at the top of the window that would prevent the window from being pushed in from the outside, I will call it a parting strip. The lower sash was hitting on what I will call the sill plate, the bottom of the window that is flat and is like a small shelf. So just keep in mind these sash replacement systems may require a little sanding/grind

I bought a home 13yrs ago...with windows from distributor morgan whitman in kansas city. The home was new, but we had many problems at the cost of 130K and plus to fix it. One was the windows...they leak terribly, most are double hung..and you can move either/or the top or bottom windows independently. But we were told by a building engineer/inspector that the builder did builder grade shortcuts..like putting to small windows..some by inches to 6inches smaller than the holes...they used 2x4 blocks around them. then trim. So my question is...replacing all the windows has been projected at 33k. We have wood now. But that 33k would be for wood inside with Alum clad outside. We cannot have vinyl, as one of our major problems was severe mold issues outside due to no soffit/roof ventilation, which has been corrected...but the mold prevails. So my question is...Can existing windows be used and redone? or upgraded as in this alternative to replacing a whole window? Also, I have siding on exter
