Highlights:

Step 1: Mark the Bottom of the Vent

Use a level to mark the bottom of the vent, which will be flush with the adjacent cabinets. Note: The vent must be at least 29" from the top of your cooktop.

Step 2: Screw in the Hanging Brackets

Mark the center and line up the vent template on the marks. With the template in place, screw in the hanging brackets.

Note: Make sure you have enough support in the walls.

Step 3: Hang the Vent

Hang the vent on the brackets. Use the leveling screws to align the vent and secure it in place. Turn off the power. Take off the junction box cover and make the wiring connections.

Note: If you are not comfortable doing the wiring yourself, it's better to hire a professional.

Step 4: Install the Ceiling Bracket and the Duct Cover

Install the ceiling bracket that will hold the duct cover. This mounts flush to the ceiling with drywall screws. Put the flex vent on the transition, stretch it to the vent in the ceiling and tape the seams. Be careful when working with aluminum tape, as it is very sharp.

Put on the duct cover and screw in place.
