        Step 2: Measure the Drawer

The original hardware and drawer front can be used to make the board. Start by measuring the drawer to get the dimensions of the base then cut the plywood to size.

Step 3: Mark the Position and Cut a Frame

Mark the position of the cutting surface. To keep it in place, half-inch hardwood dowels can be cut for a frame. Leaving the front edge open will give you a nice way to grab the board.

Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches

The tracking from the old drawer can be reused on the new wood base. The original drawer front can be also be re-used, first by giving it a quick cleaning. Wood putty can fill any screw holes. Then sanding and painting will smooth the surface. Add hinges and magnets to hold it in place and in no time, you’ll have a more useable workspace — a pull-out cutting board
