Step 1: Remove the Boards and Cut the Joist

Determine the location of the access panel for the tub, mark the floor and cut along the edge with a reciprocating saw.

To cut the center, use a circular saw (Image 1). Make a plunge cut then follow along the marks. Remove the boards (Image 2).

Cut out the joist with a reciprocating saw (Image 3).

Step 2: Secure the Lam Beams

Cut the lam beams to length and rip them to the correct width. Tap them in place with a hammer.

Put the lam beam in place and secure them using a framing nailer (Image 1), then add a joist hanger for support (Image 2).
