Cut new support studs with a miter saw (Image A).
To connect the new stud to the old one, use a right-angle drill with 2-1/2 screws (Image B).
Determine height of window (Image 1).
Then run a laser line 1-1/2” lower (Image 2), to account for the width of the framing board and mark.
Cut through the existing studs at the mark with a reciprocating saw and pull them out.
