Step 1: Cut the Tenon, and Choose a Dowel
Using a saw, cut the broken end of the tenon from the rung so that you have a smooth edge at the end (Image 1). Determine the diameter of the end of the tenon you just cut. Choose a dowel of the same diameter (Image 2).
Step 2: Insert the Dowel
Using a drill bit the same size as the dowel, drill a hole in the cut end of the rung. Pour wood glue into the hole you just drilled. Screw the dowel into the hole, and allow the glue to dry. Replace the rung in the chair.
