        • Time

          Weekend

        • Price Range

          $250 - $500

        • Difficulty

          Easy to Moderate

        Highlights:

Step 1: Clean the Filing Cabinet

Remove the drawers from the file cabinet, and sand all surfaces with coarse sandpaper. Wipe clean with a tack cloth.

Step 2: Apply the Tape and Base Coat

Mask off areas you want to remain unpainted. In a well-ventilated area, spray-paint all surfaces with the dark-green base coat. Let dry.

Step 3: Apply the Granite Look

Spray the cabinet sides and top with a granite-look spray paint. Use a marbleizing spray on the drawers.

        Step 4: Seal the Cabinet

When dry, put the drawers back in the cabinet, and spray the entire piece with a clear acrylic sealer for greater durability.

If desired, replace the old drawer pulls with new brass handles.
