Remove the drawers from the file cabinet, and sand all surfaces with coarse sandpaper. Wipe clean with a tack cloth.
Mask off areas you want to remain unpainted. In a well-ventilated area, spray-paint all surfaces with the dark-green base coat. Let dry.
Spray the cabinet sides and top with a granite-look spray paint. Use a marbleizing spray on the drawers.
When dry, put the drawers back in the cabinet, and spray the entire piece with a clear acrylic sealer for greater durability.
If desired, replace the old drawer pulls with new brass handles.
