Step 1: Paint and Sketch
Paint the sheet of MDF to get the gradient "sunset" effect. Paint the top portion one color and the bottom portion black. Dilute some of the paint then blend the top and bottom sections in the middle with the diluted paint. On the sheet of plywood, sketch out a design of a tree (or any other design you might want).
Step 2: Cut out and Glue the Shape
Using a jigsaw, carefully follow your sketch, cutting out the shape drawn on the plywood. Glue the cut shape onto the painted sheet of plywood.
Step 3: Add the Lights
Once it is dry, drill 24 small holes on various branches. Thread the twinkle light bulbs through the backs of the holes. Attach an extension cord, plug it in and watch it light up your room.
