A four-sided "something" such as a picture frame or old mirror can serve as the base. Keep an eye out for one that is thick enough to prevent snacks from spilling off the sides. Old cabinet or drawers pulls are a good choice for the handles. Look for a pair with depth to provide something to grab onto.
Don’t forget to pair the handles with long screws that will span the thickness of the sides. Measure and mark for you handles. Using a drill bit that is slightly smaller than your screw, pre-drill holes. Then screw the handles in place.
For a personal touch, try decorating the tray by lining the glass with postcards, fabric or photographs. It’s a good idea to reinforce the back. Just glue on a thin piece of wood and you’re ready to party, provided you have the "goods."
