        How to Apply a Crosshatch Painting Technique

        Applying a new paint technique can give a room a whole new look. Learn how to create a crosshatching technique for office walls.

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Prep the Room

        Prepare the room by taping the windows, doors and molding with painter's tape. Place a drop cloth on the floor.

        Step 2: Apply the Base Coat

        Apply a base coat of paint on the walls, then allow to dry.

        Step 3: Tape the Wall and Apply the Glaze

        Tape the adjoining wall with masking paper.

        Add three parts glaze to one part latex paint to create a topcoat glaze.

        Apply glaze topcoat in sections.

        Step 4: Apply the Crosshatch Finish

        Use a dry brush to get a layered crosshatch finish by making short strokes vertically, then horizontally.
