How to Build a Simple Fence Around a Vegetable Garden

Step 1: Place Bamboo Stakes
Push the bamboo stakes into the ground at one-foot spacing until they're sturdy in place. Hammer the stakes into the ground along the edge of the bed.
Step 2: Attach Twine to Bamboo
Wrap the twine around each stake a few times. Then go straight across to the next stake, repeating the step until all of the stakes are tied together. Complete the fence by adding a second row of string and tying it off.
Step 3: Attach CDs With Twine
Dangle some CDs from twine and tie them to the top twine on the fence. This will help keep birds like starlings away and make the fence more noticeable to kids who might forget the garden is here.
