Position the foam and then lay the felt and canvas layer on top. Trim the material to size, leaving about six inches of excess to secure later.
Stretch the canvas taut across the top of the table before securing it with upholstery staples. For a more finished look, fold the canvas under once before securing it to the plywood top. Alternate stapling out each side until the entire perimeter has been fastened firmly, saving the corners for last.
The final step is a bit like making a bed -- a nice, tight, hospitable bed corner. Once the fabric is entirely secured, the top is finished.
