1x4 instead of 2x4

I made the same exact boards last year and on the advice of someone who just made his own set as well was to use 1x4 instead of 2x4. This will signifacantly cut down on the weight of the overall product. It is still just as sturdy as using the 2x4 but if you want you can brace it in the middle for added strength. I chose not too and the boards work just fine.

Great Sunday project

I just completed this project yesterday. I hit the home supply store in the a.m. and the gentleman there was kind enough to make the initial cuts. Finished things up in my garage in less than two hours. Can't wait to paint them (waiting for the pressure-treated wood to cure!
