        More in Outdoors

        • Time

          Several Weekends

        • Price Range

          $2,500 - $5,000

        • Difficulty

          Moderate to Hard

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Prepare the Area

Be sure to run condensate pipe for the refrigerator, drain lines, propane lines, and a pressure regulator for the grill before constructing the deck.

        Step 2: Dig the Holes

Start by digging holes for the 4x4 posts that will support the weight of the deck. Fill the holes with quick setting concrete mix, add water, and position 4x4 posts on top of the cement.

        Step 3: Build the Frame

Create the outer frame of the deck with pressure-treated 2x6s and use a nail gun to attach joists to the frame that will be covered with decking. Use metal support posts as a brace for the 4x4s that will make the deck more secure. Nail 2x4s across the outer frame to complete the deck.
