Step 1: Mark the Lumber

First mark the lumber to the desired size of the cubby using a ruler and pencil. Use a circular saw to cut your lumber accordingly.

Step 2: Cut Ledger Boards

Next make ledgers out of 1 by which is pine stock that you can buy and it’s pre-milled 3/4" making it easy to cut with a miter saw. Cut the ledger boards accordingly. These pieces of wood will create a solid surface on which to attach the shelves.

Step 3: Attach the Ledgers

Use a nail gun to attach the ledger pieces every few inches to the lumber and then attach the shelves using adhesive and the nail gun.

Step 4: Secure the Cubby and Trim

Attach the other side of the cubby in place (Image 1 and 2).

Add trim to the edges, secure in closet, and paint.
