        How to Bend Metal With a Jig

        A homemade jig can be used to bend sheet metal into almost any desired shape. Use these instructions to easily add beauty to a regular piece of sheet metal.

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Cut the Jig

        Use a band saw to cut a curve or large groove in the circular or oval piece of stock. The size and shape of the curve are up to you.

        Step 2: Finish the Jig

        Wrap a piece of steel strapping around the edge of the jig, and screw it in place. Screw the jig in place on the scrap piece of flat wood.

        Step 3: Wrap the Metal Around the Jig

        Wrap sheet metal around the circumference of the jig and into the curve or groove. Continue wrapping the metal until you've bent it to the desired shape.
