Use an awl to poke a hole through one corner of the fabric to be fastened to the wood (Image 1). The hole must be large enough to accommodate the grommet.
Use a grommeter to finish the hole with a grommet (Image 2).
Drill a hole into the wood the same size as the shank of the rivet (Image 1).
Using a rivet gun, feed the rivet through the grommet and into the wood. The riveter will pull the metal pin of the rivet through its shank and into the wood (Image 2).
Repeat steps 1 and 2 down the length of the fabric to secure it to the wood.
