Remove old shade from lamp.
Measure new shade from top to bottom; add 2 inches. Cut various grosgrain ribbons into several pieces to this length.
Place new shade on lamp (this will help you keep the ribbons straight). Starting with wider ribbon, apply glue to back and place it straight down shade so it extends evenly at top and bottom. Smooth into place, tucking ends to the wrong side of shade at top and bottom.
Working around shade, continue to apply ribbons in the same manner. Ribbons may overlap slightly at upper edge, depending on shape of shade. Start with wider ribbons, then use narrow ribbons to cover any overlapping areas.
