Creamy White Walls for a Modern Bedroom

In this bedroom makeover, painting the wall a creamy white provides a fresh canvas for the headboard's bright orange-red decorative squares.

Step 1: Roll Out Rosin Paper and Tape off Trim

Before painting the walls, roll out heavy rosin paper, available at most home-improvement centers, over the floors and tape in place. The paper will protect the floors from accidental paint drips and is not as slippery as a drop cloth.

Tape painter's tape along the moldings and windows and paint a thin coat of varnish along the tape edges to prevent paint from seeping underneath.

Step 2: Prime the Walls and Apply the Top Coat

Prime the walls with a creamy white primer. Next, apply a Monterey White paint for the top coat. The creamy shade is more inviting than a stark white and provides a fresh canvas for the bright colors that will follow on the headboard.
