Tips on Storing Power Tools

Use these tips to safely and easily store large power tools when not in use.

Photo 4 of 4Once you've cleaned your tools, protect them from dust and moisture by covering them with plastic.

Protect the Metal(4 of 4)

  • Rub a thick layer of paste wax onto the exposed metal surface, then cover with wax paper to prevent the wax paste from drying.
  • Loosen the tension on the motor to prevent cracking and binding of the belt, then loosen the blade tension.
  • Avoid leaving the blade exposed when storing the tool. Cover the blade with a guard.
  • To protect the tool from dust and moisture, cover the entire tool with plastic.
