If you have a tree in your yard that you would like to cut wood from, you need to make sure you have a good band saw with a large motor, a thick blade, and a large enough height capacity for cutting down logs. After cutting one side of a quarter slab, turn the piece and cut from the other side so that you can get as much quarter-sawn wood as possible.
