Chain saw chaps have layers of fiber inside to snap the chain and slow it down. This can give you time to escape the chain and avoid injury.

Avoid standing behind the chain saw. When making a cut, always stand to the left of the chain saw to avoid kickback. Place your left hand on the front handle and your right hand on the back trigger.
