    Finishing the Cocktail Table

    1. Pour some polyurethane into a cup and wipe it on with a cotton rag in long strokes — running it with the grain (figure A).

Safety Tip: Polyurethane is toxic so always put on a respirator and rubber gloves before you get started.

    2. Put on two coats of polyurethane and let it dry for about four hours between each coat.

    3. Hammer in the prefabricated feet to the bottom of the oak leg to protect the floor from getting scuffed.

    4. Turn the table over and use the combination square again to help you find the center point on the bottom of each leg.

    5. Drill in a plot hole, use a soft, rubber mallet to hammer the feet in and then add a felt pad to each leg for additional protection (figure B).

    6. Carefully place the tabletop glass in place.
