Finishing Touches- One-half inch steel rods will support the table top. Cut them down to length on the abrasive cutoff wheel. The rods will be installed in the holes you drilled in the cherry post.
- Whenever you try to bond unlike materials, like metal and wood, epoxy is usually a good choice. Epoxy is a two-part adhesive, one part resin and the other part, hardener.
- When you mix the two together there is a chemical reaction and they cure up to form a really strong bond. Use a five minute quick cure epoxy it will bond up really fast.
Tip: When are trying to bond a slick surface like metal you should scuff up the surface. That will give the surface some tooth and it will give the glue a little bit to hang onto. - With a soft bristle brush, lightly dab the epoxy in the holes and onto the rods. Insert the rods into the cherry wood, and clean up any excess with a cotton rag.
- Install the aluminum panel clip (figure A) that will help you mount the accent table to the wall.
- Tap on an awl to create pilot holes for the drillgo ahead and drill in the holesthen use two screws to attach the panel clip (figure B).
- Slide the post on and then drop in the table top.
