Assembling the End Table- Before you install the legs, you need to finish the glass top. Once the epoxy has hardened, you can take the whole thing out of the mold.
- The slick packing tape you placed along the exterior edges of the glass makes it easy for you to remove it from the mold (figure A).
- Clean up the excess residue from the epoxy with acetone--the same thing in nail polish remover.
- To finish up the table you will be using the prefabricated steel legs.
Note: Sleek, chrome legs have been used for furniture since the art deco movement of the 1930's. - Before you attach them to the table top, you need to assemble the table top unit. Start by placing in the spacer strips. Just cut them down on the table saw and paint them grey to match the table.
- Staple them securely to the underside of the table top frame, (figure B) and they will help you locate the glass so it doesn't slide around in there and it will also give you something to screw through when you attach all the parts.
- Place the glass top inside the cement frame. It was designed so that there is about an inch of space around the glass frame.
- Put the bottom section of the table in position and sandwich the glass.
- To install the legs for the table, mark the locations for the four legs and drilling pilot holes. Use blue tape on the drill bit to indicate the depth of the pilot hole.
- Place the chrome legs in position and drive the screws into place attaching the legs for the table (figure C).
