  • Making A Simple Book Rack

  • Whether your hobby is cooking, gardening, computers or horses, it seems like there is never enough space for the books we accumulate. Rather than store them in a single bookcase, why not have a small bookrack designed to sit on top of your desk, kitchen or wherever you have a need for those special books. This simple, yet classic, bookrack design is a perfect solution!

    1. Use any type of wood for this project, but consider using the same type of wood as your desk, kitchen cabinets, etc.

    2. Trace out the sides of your bookrack on your boards, then cut them using either a saber saw or band saw with a fine tooth blade to minimize chipping.

    3. You can custom design the length of your bookrack to fit your space or needs.

    4. Cut a slot in either side the same width as the thickness of your shelf.

    5. Mark and cut notch in the back of each side for the back rail.

    6. Glue, assemble and clamp the four pieces together and allow it to dry overnight.

    7. After the glue has dried, give it a final sanding and apply your finish.
