    Steps:

    • To begin, first chose the type of tree branch to carve.
    • After making sure your knife is extremely sharp, cut the branch to a length that's about two times its diamater, using the small blade of the knife.
    • Start by shaping the head, carving away from yourself when possible. When you must cut toward yourself, be sure to guard your thumb as you draw the blade toward it.
    • To make the head, whittle both sides as needed to keep the shape even.
